About the Courses
Rachel Neumann is offering two fantastic courses this January:
- Pathways to Publishing: The Right Home and Audience for Your Book
- Wild Writing: Journaling and Mindfulness Mini-Retreat
These courses are perfect for writers at any stage—whether you’re just starting out or looking to refine your craft. Each session is designed to provide you with the tools and support you need to bring your literary dreams to life.
Rachel’s Experience and Philosophy
With over 30 years in the publishing industry, Rachel has worked in every aspect—from running bookstores to editing and writing. She believes that everyone has a story within them, waiting to be told. Writing is not just about putting words on a page; it’s an embodied practice that requires support and community.
“Every single person has a story within them,” Rachel emphasizes. “It can be nurtured, watered, and taught.” Whether you’ve written a thousand words or are just beginning, this course is for you. You’ll find a safe space to explore your voice and creativity.
What to Expect in the Courses
The courses will consist of interactive sessions where participants can engage deeply with their writing. Here’s a brief overview of what each course entails:
Wild Writing: A Mini Mindfulness and Creative Writing Retreat
This course focuses on generative writing and creating a supportive community. Each session will start with inspiration from a poet or writer, followed by dedicated writing time. You’ll receive guidance to help you overcome blocks and encourage your creative flow.
Pathways to Publishing: The Right Home and Audience for Your Book
This course is all about honing your ideas and learning the secrets of publishing. Rachel will guide you in identifying what your message is and how to structure it effectively. You’ll explore the essential elements that make a book resonate with readers.
Interactive Writing Exercises
During the sessions, expect to engage in writing exercises that spark creativity. For example, participants will be prompted to think of two objects and create a piece starting with the phrase “Days like this.” This exercise encourages free writing without self-judgment, allowing your thoughts to flow onto the page.
“The most important thing is to keep writing,” Rachel says. “If you get stuck, just write down the objects again until something else comes.” This practice helps cultivate a habit of writing regularly and overcoming the fear of the blank page.
Community and Support
One of the highlights of Rachel’s courses is the sense of community. You’ll connect with fellow writers who share your passion and understand the challenges of the writing journey. Through shared experiences, you’ll find inspiration and motivation to keep going.
“There’s a myth that writing is a solitary practice,” Rachel explains. “But in each other’s words, we find our own.” This collaborative environment fosters growth and creativity, making it easier to express yourself authentically.
